Chris de Burgh introduces new album to his fans at GrandWest in April 2016

Legendary singer Chris de Burgh will introduce his Cape Town fans to songs from his new album, The Hands of Man, at GrandWest in April 2016. His only concert at the Grand Arena on 17 April 2016 is one of eight shows he will perform during The Hands of Man tour of South Africa.

The Hands of Man, his 20th studio album of original material, was recorded both at his home studio in Ireland and at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove facility in London. Produced by Chris Porter, it features contributions from the members of de Burgh’s touring band.

De Burgh has approached many of the new songs from the perspective of how they could be performed on stage, as well as considering how the audience might react to them in the live arena. He will have the opportunity to judge his instincts against the reaction of his local audience when he performs

at GrandWest next year.

De Burgh’s first major hits in South Africa were “Spanish train” and “Just another poor boy” which climbed the local radio charts. Best known for his 1986 love song, “Lady in red”, de Burgh was the only international artist to personally receive an invitation from then Chancellor Kohl to perform at the historic public celebrations marking the reunification of East and West Germany.

Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest, says a capacity crowd is anticipated for the show. Tickets to de Burgh’s The Hands of Man concert at the Grand Arena are on sale at www.bigconcerts.co.za and Computicket. Ticket prices range from R365 per person.
