DEMOS AT THE CAPE TOWN FLOWER SHOW

The Cape Town Flower Show takes place from Thursday 27th–Sunday 30th October 2016 at The Castle of Good Hope, in the centre of Cape Town. Visitors going to the show can also be inspired to new heights by attending any of the varied and exciting demos.

There is something for everyone, including children. • Biomimicry Institute - Biomimikids: An introduction to the wonderful world of Biomimicry where children can learn from nature and use nature’s genius to solve human challenges and create effective, environmentally friendly materials, structures, and systems. Best suited to children age 6-12 years but open to children younger or older who love learning about nature. • Biomimicry Institute: This workshop will have a series of activities which will help you discover the genius of nature and how innovative design products and systems can emulate nature’s ecosystems. Anyone is who cares deeply about the sustainability of our world, innovators and creatives shouldn’t miss this one. • Colour Therapy and Nourishment - Sunshine Health Academy: This workshop will take you on a Colour Aroma Balancing Journey which connects the outer elements in nature to the inner elements of your body using chakra energy centres. • Fear Not the Fungi - Mushroom Guru: This demonstration will show attendees how to inoculate a log with mushroom spore and teach you how to grow your own exotic or medicinal mushrooms at home. • Introducing Permaculture – Cape Town Food Gardens: An introductory workshop on permaculture and container gardening. • Looking After Orchids - Cape Orchid Society: This demo will show how to best grow a variety of orchid genera in Cape Town. Come and learn how to grow, feed, bloom and repot these beautiful plants. • Summer Gardening – Kay Montgomery: Catch the latest in trends, designs and plants for your garden this summer. • Supercharge Your Soil - Natural Gardening Principles: Sarchen Bassingthwaighte will show gardeners that natural gardening is both vibrant and easy to do. Join her while she explains the principles behind this and guides you to follow her 4 simple steps to Supercharging Your Soil. • Vegetable Gardening - Sought After Seedlings: This workshop will teach visitors the basics of organically growing your own food almost anywhere. • Vertical Vegetable Gardening – Marcelle Varner: Vertical garden panel planting will be demonstrated and exciting dishes will be made from what is grown.

The Cape Town Flower Show brings together beautiful landscaped gardens, planting trends and designs for living outdoors; unites notions of beauty, sanctuary and sustainability; and celebrates local food, culture and community. The show taps into a gardening culture that’s young, and vibrant and also identifies with a universal awareness for the need to care for the environment. Dig this! In the build-up towards the show, The Cape Town Flower Show will be releasing a limited amount of tickets each month at special prices. Avoid disappointment and book early to get the best prices.
